Unit Overview: The Very Lazy Ladybug

Theme: Independence, Animal Movement, and Perseverance.

Focus: This unit follows a ladybug who is very lazy-so lazy that she has never learned how to fly. Instead of practicing, she hitches a ride on different animals to see the world. Through her funny mistakes, she realizes that being lazy doesn't work, and that the best way to get where you want to go is to do it yourself. It normalizes that learning new skills (like flying!) can be hard, but it is worth the effort.

Key Teaching Points

• The Value of Effort: Learning that "lazy" is an unsustainable choice. To achieve what we want, we must put inn the effort and practice.

Animal Locomotion: Identifying the unique ways different animals movele.g., a kangaroo bounces, a monkey swings, a crocodile crawls). This unit encourages "brain gym" and kinesthetic movement.
