Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
by Eric Carle
Sequencing Strip
Exuberantly colored artwork and favorite animals make this rhythmic story the perfect introduction to looking and learning about colors. Each spread leads seamlessly into the next and young children will delight in Eric's colorful collage animals and simple repetitive language.
Unit Objectives: This craft helps students visualize the sequence theme of the book. It focuses on fine motor skills, sequencing , and hand-eye coordination as students pull the strip through the viewer.
Sequencing Strips Include:
1. Easy Version: Pictures are in order and ready to be colored.
2. Teacher Versions: Full-color examples to show the students the finished product.
Directions:
1. First: color all pictures on the sequencing strips,
2. Second: Cut out the strips and glue them together at to make one long story ribbon.
3. Third: Cut only the two side lines (the slits) on the main ”Character” box.
4. Fourth: Carefully pull the finished strip through the slits so the pictures slide across the window!
Teacher Idea: I recommend printing this craft on cardstock. It is much longer-lasting and makes it easier for little hands to The strip back and forth without tearing the paper!
