The Sky Was Her Home : Amelia Earhart was a famous pilot who loved the • • feeling of being high up in the clouds. A Bright Yellow Plane : Her first airplane was bright yellow, and she nicknamed it “The Canary” because it looked like a little bird.
The Big Ocean: She was the very first woman to fly an airplane all by herself across the Atlantic Ocean-that’s a lot of water!
A Brave Heart: When Amelia was a little girl, she built her own “roller coaster” in her backyard using a wooden box and a ramp. She was always brave!
Special clothes: She wore a leather jacket, a soft hat, and big goggles to keep the wind out of her eyes while she flew.
