PANCAKES, PANCAKES!

The core theme of “Pancakes, Pancakes!” by Eric Carle is patience and • the process of hard  work. For students, this means understanding that things don’t just “appear”-they take time and many steps to create.

I. Story and Vocabulary Focus

Book Information: Title, Author, and a summary of the story's theme (determination). 

Comprehension Questions (4 Character & Feeling Questions, 4 Recall Questions) 

Vocabulary Words ( These words build functional language and concept awareness.

II. Literacy Skills (Tracing and Matching)

Trace the Path: Use Tracing Lines to show the path the Jack took. 

Trace the Alphabet (Pages for tracing letter formation A-Z).

Match the Shapes (Color-Cut-Glue activity).

Letter Focus/Matching:

C is for cow 

M is for mother 

B is for boy

B is for bowl 

III. Math Skills (Numbers and Counting)

Trace Numbers 1-15.

Numbers 1-5 (Paste pictures under correct number activity). 

Numbers 6-10 (Paste pictures under correct numbers activity). 

Numbers 1-6 Count and write the correct number

IV. Fine Motor and Sequencing

Scissor Practice Hand-eye coordination, cutting skills(2 pages). 

Trace the nest with eggs

Trace the cow

Matching/Sequencing:

Matching-Color-Cut-Glue (2 pages).

"What comes next?" (Color-Cut-Paste activity, 2 page).

Circle and Color what is different Visual discrimination, observation skills(1 page)

Color the plates using the color 

Puzzles (3 puzzles).

Puppet Sticks Story retelling, dramatic play, (For retelling the story— cut out, and glue on sticks).
