WOLF'S COMING BOOK UNIT

WOLF’S COMING!

BY JOE KULKA

The core theme of “Wolf’s Coming!” by Joe Kulka is expectation versus reality and playful subversion of fear.

For a Pre-K or Kindergarten audience, this book is a fantastic tool for teaching “perspective shifting”-taking a scary idea and turning it into something joyful.

Core Themes for Little Learners

• Anticipation and Suspense: Building the feeling of “What happens next?” as the wolf gets closer.

The Surprise Reveal: Learning that our fears aren’t always what they seem (the “scary” wolf is coming for a party!).

• Community and Friendship: All the animals work together to prepare for their friend’s arrival.

• Safety in Numbers: The animals hide together, emphasizing the comfort of being with friends.
